Becoming a member

Full membership of liveArgyll Library Service is available to any person who lives, works or studies in Argyll. Temporary membership may be granted at the discretion of senior library staff. There is no charge to join. You can join at any branch of the library by presenting proof of your name and current address. There is no minimum age for joining, but those under the age of 16 years require a signature from their parent or guardian.

You may join the library online by clicking on the "I Accept" button after you have read and accepted the membership conditions.

Conditions of Membership

• To borrow items you must present your library membership card.
• Items may be borrowed for four weeks.
• Items can be borrowed from, and returned to, any branch of liveArgyll Library Service.
• Items may be renewed at any branch. Staff are happy to renew items over the telephone during opening hours; please have your library card number on hand. If a reservation has been placed on an item you have on loan, a renewal is not permitted.
• A reservation and/or inter-library loan request service is available for any item. If liveArgyll Library Service does not hold the item we will try to obtain it for you. There is an administrative charge for this service. You can place your own reservations for most items via the public access catalogues at our branches or through the online catalogue.
• All costs incurred by the Library Service due to items lost or damaged whilst in your care must be reimbursed.
• All charges for reservations, inter-library loans and lost membership cards are non-refundable.
• If you change your address or name please notify us as soon as possible.
• Please report lost cards to the library immediately. You will be held responsible for any items borrowed before the loss is reported.
• liveArgyll may contact you with information about our libraries unless you request to opt out of this service.
