Since the beginning of the Second World War the 30 mile stretch of the Kintyre Peninsula, lying between the islands of Arran and Islay on the west coast of Scotland, has been a thorn in the side of aviators the world over. In fine weather, for land dwellers at least, it has some stunning scenery, great lochs and fine walks, but in poor weather, to a pilot it is deadly and the whole place becomes a magnet for low flying aircraft. In this book there are accounts of over 50 aircraft that have come to grief over a period of 54 years, complemented with biographies of the airmen involved and a vast collection of photographs.
