The first part of Volume 3 covers the strategic assessments during the period, intelligence on the German economy, the fighting on the Russian fronts and in Yugoslavia, the war in the Mediterranean and the Italian surrender, U-boat warfare and the war in the air, including both the Allied and the German air offensives. The importance of intelligence on the V-weapons and the effect that this was to have on the course of the war is also examined.
