Michael Kaufmann, now a communications consultant, has previously been a soldier, an olive farmer, a journalist and a photographer. He is currently hiding out in Argyll. While serving as a Community Councillor for Glendaruel, he was inveigled on to the Cowal Way by Jim McLuckie and has been walking it ever since. James McLuckie had a 25-year military career, and on leaving the Army he returned to Scotland to establish an outdoor training centre on the Cowal Peninsula in Argyll. As Chairman of the Colintraive and Glendaruel Community Council, James devised the Cowal Way route, seeking to encourage others to visit and enjoy this little-known part of Scotland.
