In 1931, a young man in RAF uniform got onto the Fort William to Glasgow train. He was returning to camp from leave spent visiting his family at Gorton and friends at Bridge of Orchy. The lady who was sitting opposite him was returning to the USA from South Lochboisdale. And so Miss Margaret Fay Shaw and Andrew MacRae met for the first time. Their lifelong friendship started there and in 1969 Miss Shaw persuaded Andrew "Beig" MacRae to purchase a tape recorder and take it with him when he next visited his family and friends in South uist. Some of his recordings of "The Voices" and a few of his photographs are brought together here in CD and print.
