This book is the result of a study of 500 Megalithic sites in Britain. The author establishes the megalithic yard and uses it to elucidate the geometry of the rings, ellipses and other compound shapes that the Megalithic erectors used. He shows astronomically that a sophisticated solar calendar was in use, and that extensive observations of the moon were made in its four limiting positions. Typical surveys of many sites show the kind of material on which the author's conclusions are based, and several introductory chapters are devoted to such of the theory fo statistics, mathematics and astronomy as is necessary to an understanding of the analysis.
