A kist of whistles

MacDiarmid, Hugh, 1892-1978UUUU
Books, Manuscripts
Hugh MacDiarmid, the father of the cultural Renaissance movement in Scotland, has justly earned a world-wide reputation as a considerable poet on the strengh alone of his early lyrics. His recent work however which has undergone great changes in form and content constitutes a challenge to the very nature of poetry and is like a fresh breeze blowing through much of the tidy, well groomed poetry of our time. Those who have read MacDiarmid's views on poetry in his book 'Lucky Poet' will be more than interested in this new volume of his work which contains many of the best poems he has written in the last ten years.
