There are 1,173 baptisms recorded in the Register of St Kiaran's beginning with the first child baptised 11th September 1848, one Harriet Scattergodd, daughter of Edward Scattergood, Inland Revenue Officer. The first entries reflect the diverse nature of St Kiaran's, right from the beginning. There are fishermen, farm labourers, fish buyers, and the Laird of Crubasdale's child in a private chapel at Largie Castle - by Cosmo Lang, Archbishop of Canterbury. These entries have been taken in sequence from the St Kiaran's Registers and compiled into a similar format to that of the Deaths, i.e. a facsimile record of the entries and an index for ease of reference.
