One island, many voices : Bute, Archaeology and the Discover Bute Landscape Partnership Scheme

Books, Manuscripts
The Discover Bute Landscape Partnership Scheme (DBLPS) was a four-year, 2.8 million partnership project between multiple national, regional and local organisations. Its overall objective was to engage people with the Bute landscape through fun, education, training and involvement. A key aspect of DBLPS was a dedicated Archaeological Research Project which audited Bute's archaeological resources, enhanced that audit through fieldwork, and excited people about the archaeology and and heritage of the island. This book is a synthesis of new research and reviews arising from the project. It brings the current state of knowledge about the island's archaeology up to date and forms the basis of the new Archaeological Research Framework for Bute. Contributions from over 30 archaeology professionals and local enthusiasts review our current understanding of Bute's heritage from the earliest Brandanes to the 20th century tourists, and highlight some of the many voices that helped earn the project an 'outstanding' rating from independent evaluators.
